THANK YOU FOR PUBLISHing “The Secret Life of Jeb Alexander” (11/5). It was the most touching piece that I have read in a long, long time. As a straight white male I could feel only empathy and warmth for the quiet life of longing that he describes there. I wish that those people who are so afraid of gay people would read it and realize that in our hearts we are all the same. We all want to be loved and we all want to be important to someone. If we would open our eyes, many of us in the straight world would see our lives reflected in that of this quiet, lonely man.
It was also great for a lifelong Washingtonian like myself to read about the day-to-day history of our city. Thanks again. You made me cry.
