Pearl Harbor Day has rolled around again, and Americans continue to be awfully indignant about the “date which will live in infamy.” It’s a little unseemly for a nation that has begun three wars with surprise attacks in the last decade (Grenada, Panama, Iraq) to still be flagellating the Japanese for something they did 52 years ago. Then again, patriotic events are seldom the time for rigorous self-criticism. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jesse Brown will speak at the Pearl Harbor Commemoration at 11 a.m. at the Navy Memorial on Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th & 9th Sts. NW. FREE. (202) 737-2300.
