A taste of the ’70s revival: Big Chief‘s latest album, Mack Avenue Skull Game, is billed as a “soundtrack” (for a movie that, suspiciously, remains to be seen) and contains a healthy dose of Detroit punk and enough funk to meet the daily requirements of a Superfly flick. Singer Barry Henssler (ex-Necros) and guitarists Mark Dancey and Phil Durr provide an overdriven sound unlike anything one would expect from a Sub Pop band. With Psyclone Rangers at 9:30 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $5. (202) 393-0930. (Beef Jerky)
