Holiday go-gos are a long-standing D.C. tradition, but the “Kwanzaa Food Drive a Go-Go” is relatively new. This year marks the third annual “hype jam for the hungry and homeless,” and this round features Rare Essence, the Junkyard Band, the Backyard Band, the Northwest Youngins, Epitome, Precise, Joshua Generation, and Hucklebucks. The marathon starts at 4 p.m. at La Peña, 1470 Irving St. NW. $10 or 10 canned goods; proceeds benefit the Union Temple Baptist Church feeding program, the Community for Creative Non-Violence, and Mother Dear’s Community Center’s lunch program.
