The Loved Ones

Hightone

In another vigorous blast of meat-cleaver chords and banshee harmonica, the Loved Ones continue to shout, “Yes!” in answer to the musical question, “Does the world really need a four-piece guitar-driven R&B band working the groove slashed by the first Paul Butterfield Band LP 30 years ago?” Without a twitch of self-consciousness, Bart Davenport and mates wield simple instrumental rigs, pose poutily before boarded-up storefronts, and kick out those refried Chicago-style white-boy jams—but with an enthusiasm infectious enough to merit attention from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
