Bikini Kill records for Kill Rock Stars, but frontwoman Kathleen Hanna seems in danger of becoming one herself. Onstage, she’s charismatic, bold, and decidedly larger-than-life. Offstage, she’s been cultivating a friendship with Joan Jett. On Pussy Whipped, BK has tightened up its sound without softening its edges. Which is to say, perhaps, that the mantle of rock stardom will be what becomes a “Rebel Girl” most.
