A veteran of the post-punk Liverpool scene, Ian Broudie made his name as a producer and then made himself into a band, the Lightning Seeds, which aptly enough plays tidy, tuneful production pop, sort of like Echo and the Bunnymen or the Teardrop Explodes without their edginess. The results are glib but catchy, if not catchy enough to earn a U.S. major-label release for the Seeds’ latest, Jollification. Opening are the Murmurs, a female duo that might better be called “the Trills”; on the band’s eponymous album, even songs with titles like “You Suck” come out chirpy and sweet. At 10 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $15. (202) 393-0930. (MJ)
