The National Park Service soon will prohibit in-line skating in most of Rock Creek Park. While no serious blading injuries have been reported, Park Police have received several complaints from motorists and bikers that skaters take up too much space. “When you’re in a car with a roller blader in front of you, there is nothing you can do [to legally pass that person],” Lt. Henry Berberich says. Skating will be permitted on the paved multi-use path that begins at Park Road and Beech Drive near Pierce Mill, and on those streets closed to cars on weekends and holidays, which, starting in December, will include Bingham and Sherrill Drives. Park Police would not say when the no-skating rule will take effect.
