NOVEMBER 16

When last in the area, the Proclaimers performed at the Radio Music Hall. This time around, the show’s venue is a more suitable setting for the duo’s low-key charms: Besides, few are the concert experiences that are not improved by the opportunity to sit down and eat cheese fries. The brothers are touring in support of their latest, Hit the Highway, a disc on which the Scottish neofolkies manage to sing the praises of god and family without undue sappiness. Francis Dunnery opens at 8 p.m. at the Birchmere, 3901 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. $17.50. (703) 549-5919. (Nicole Arthur)
