In one recent D.C. appearance, Pegboy opened for Social Distortion, then California neo-punk’s most commercial outfit. Now it’s opening for Jawbox, a post-Dischord band whose art-punk attack recalls all those other Chicago groups that Pegboy doesn’t sound like. On its new, noisy Earwig, the quartet seems to be moving that way, complete with a Mission of Burma cover (the one you’d expect). But songs like “You” are still punchy enough for the Green Day audience, should it ever make Pegboy’s acquaintance. At 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $8. (202) 667-7960. (Mark Jenkins)
