Pepe Kalle and his 19-piece Empire Babuka soukous band are wonderfully proficient at executing the infectious kwasa kwasa dance rhythm, but that’s not the only reason some people pay attention to this ensemble. Known as the “Elephant of Zairian Music,” the 290-pound-plus Kalle, who performs with a dance troupe that includes a male midget, would stand out in any genre. At 10 p.m. at Kilimanjaro, 1724 California Ave. NW. $20-30. (202) 328-3838. (Steve Kiviat)
