I have always trusted Mark Jenkins’ music reviews, mainly on the theory that anyone as obsessed with the Pet Shop Boys as he is must have excellent taste. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I read his year-end summation of the year in music (“Counterrevolution No. 95,” 12/22), with its reference to the Boys’ recent “collection of…B-sides, Discography.” Come on, Mark; that was the name of their 1992 greatest hits collection. This year’s model was, of course, Alternative.
