There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
The “trouble” with Washington City Paper is that it always views the glass as half-empty rather than half-full. Erik Wemple’s “The Trouble With Harry” (1/5) recognizes Councilmember Harry Thomas’ extremely effective representation of his constituents in Ward 5. Yet it takes him to task for not coming up with a solution to our city’s budget problems, something the rest of the council, the mayor, the control board, and Congress have been unable to do.
It would be refreshing, for a change, to see City Paper praise someone like Councilmember Thomas for his compassion, his hard work, and his effective representation of his constituents. We would have a better city if each ward had a Harry Thomas as its representative.
