To complement First Fridays, a monthly slate of evening openings, the Galleries of Dupont Circle last month inaugurated the Second Saturday Gallery Talks. This month, the Washington Printmaker’s Gallery hosts Betty McDonald, whose work once garnered her a “toxified liver,” and Lois Johnson, a water-based-screen-printer; they’ll discuss healthy printmaking techniques. At the Foundry Gallery, Sara Yerkes will speak to the wonders of Celluclay, from which she fashioned her new series of small, ultralight sculptures, and Jane Hayden will attempt to acquit her pretty but insipid abstract landscapes. New Yorker Joseph Solman, whose figuration takes Schiele and fashion illustration to the Ashcan, will be the topic at Robert Brown. At 2 p.m. at Washington Printmaker’s Gallery, 2706 R St. NW; at 3 p.m. at the Robert Brown Gallery, 2030 R St. NW; at 3:30 p.m. at the Foundry Gallery, 9 Hillyer Court NW. FREE. (202) 466-7861.
