How do you keep a traditional genre like zydeco vital? Louisiana’s Zydeco Force does it by incorporating rap and funk as well as older R&B styles into its accordion-and-bass-driven sound. Expertly covering the gamut of bayou party sounds, the Force’s rural dance party presentation dirties up the Staple Singers and Cameo, hammers out raspy-voiced, Boozoo Chavislike two-chord stompers, and throws in a few earthy blues and novelty dance/hiphop numbers to boot. Dance workshop at 8 p.m., music at 9 p.m. at Glen Echo Park’s Spanish Ballroom, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo. $10. (301) 492-6282.
