Down-home Southern soul singers Clarence Carter, Denise Lasalle, and Latimore vocalize about sex nearly as much as today’s “urban contemporary” artists, but they do it in a subtler, wittier style. Instead of serenading audiences with drum-machine-supported, graphic “freak me” odes, these veteran warblers meld gospel- and blues-based musical roots with lyrical storytelling full of humorous double entendres. There’s a certain amount of shtick involved, but there’s also no denying the performers’ raw intensity. With legendary raunchy comic Rudy Ray Moore at 7 p.m. at the Warner Theater, 513 13th St. NW. $28.50. (202) 783-4000.
