There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.

SATURDAY

Now that Pavement has lost its place, is there any reason why Washington’s own Wingtip Sloat shouldn’t conquer the lo-fi world? Well, there’s the new Santa on the Crappa, an album of out-there-takes so offhand that Matador probably wouldn’t touch it. And the fact the NoVa trio didn’t play a single local gig last year. But Sloat can get it together—Santa features a curiously pretty version of the Fabs’ “Sun King,” of all things—and the band’s lack of local exposure just makes this show essential. With Dismemberment Plan and Corm at 10:15 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960.
