There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Technically speaking, the Wesley Willis Fiasco is a pretty pathetic lot, comprised of marginally talented metalheads who cop Hendrix or Van Halen riffs and call them their own. No matter, really: The main attraction in this band would upstage musicians of any caliber. Willis is a pathological music fan with a puerile sense of humor who writes songs about being a pathological music fan with a puerile sense of humorand who suffers from chronic schizophrenia. Willis’ recent agreement with American Recordings has triggered controversy over the exploitation of the mentally handicapped, but if you ask me, the only ones suffering are those who fail to detect Willis’ joy. Trailer Hitch and a Fiasco-less Willis open at 9 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $3. (202) 667-7960. CP
