Last time Blur was in Washington, the British music weeklies shrieked, someone stuck a gun in lead singer Damon Albarn’s face. Actually, the fuller account indicates that a guy in an adjacent vehicle flaunted what looked like a gun in Albarn’s general direction, and his shocked reaction just confirms what Oasis says: that the Blur boys are suburban wimps. Still, shortly after the gun incident, the band turned in a far livelier set than Oasis (or Echobelly or even Blur’s sister band, Elastica) has ever played in D.C. And their wimpy songs are pretty catchy, too. emmet swimming opens at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Ballroom, 1015 Half St. SE. $18. (202) 544-1500. CP
