13 TUESDAY
There will be piping, dancing, and Scottish delicacies, as the Brickskeller continues its series of monthly beer tastings. Leading this week’s “Scottish Ale Tastings,” which features 10 craft-brews that have never before been seen in America, is Bob Tupper, noted beer authority and designer of locally brewed Tupper’s Hop Pocket Ale. Helensburgh, Scotland, brewer Bruce Williams is the featured guest. Highlights of the presentation are a unique malted oat stout from Maclay and Co., cask-conditioned Fraoch Heather Ale, and Orkney Skullsplitter, a highly alcoholic offering from Scotland’s northernmost brewery. An open keg of cask-conditioned Wharf Rat Scottish Ale (from Baltimore) rounds out the program. Perhaps to highlight that brewing is far more advanced than Scotland’s other gastronomic pursuits, haggis will be served. At 7:30 p.m. tonight-Thursday at the Brickskeller, 1523 22nd St. NW. $25.95. For reservations call (202) 293-1885. CP
