WEDNESDAY
MTV recently aired an early-’80s retrospective that included then-and-now glimpses of new wave groups: The men of Men at Work have settled Down Under as teachers and lounge acts, for instance, and two-thirds of the Thompson Twins live as New Zealand recluses. But the biggest curiosities of all are the bands trying to reboard the gravy train. Three of A Flock of Seagulls’ founding foursome flew the coop long ago, but the band survives through the perseverance of mouthpiece and former hairpiece Mike Score. With a synthesized repertoire including “I Ran” and “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You),” the Seagulls jump back to an older sort of space age with Break at 9:15 p.m. at the Bayou, 3135 K St. NW. $10.
