Clifton Chenier, Dr. John, and the Neville Brothers have all done more to broaden the scope of traditional Louisiana music and increase its audience, but violinist Michael Doucet might be the region’s real voodoo chile. Not that he’s got the color for myth; he’s just a guy with a beard and a fiddle who, like Jimi Hendrix or Duane Allman, manages to mete out the pretty stuff even while his band’s getting the audience in a sweat. And seeing that BeauSoleil is a Cajun/zydeco powerhouse, don’t expect Doucet’s feel for beauty to hamper the band’s mission to move asses—that he doesn’t is his gift. At 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the Barns of Wolf Trap, 1624 Trap Rd., Vienna. $16. (703) 938-2404. CP
