Carla Perlo, the indefatigable director of Dance Place, will debut Carla’s Kids at this weekend’s Youth Dance Festival. In I’m Glad I’m Here, a piece choreographed to worldbeat by Perlo, 10 kids from the Maryland suburbs dance with children from housing projects near Dance Place. The energetic Perlo is excited enough about the work that she plans to turn Carla’s Kids into a resident junior dance company. Sylvia Hall, who 20 years ago was a student in Perlo’s Cincinnati youth dance program, is today an accomplished dancer and curator of the Youth Dance Festival, which includes a performance by her own group, Children of Wo’se.
