RANDALL BLOOMQUIST’S article, “Keeper of the Flame,” (3/15) was well-written and educational. Thanks to dedicated people like Richard Rapp, the public can really know what goes on inside a crematorium. There are millions of acres of cemeteries in the world, which I view as wasted space—unless one’s religious belief prohibits cremation. Just how much longer can we allow the dead to take space from the living? We shouldn’t need a plot with a cold stone to remind us of a loved one, but instead keep those whom we love in our memory.
