WEDNESDAY

Twice removed from her stint as Juliana Hatfield’s drummer in Blake Babies, Freda Love has changed her tune on pop music. But Mysteries of Life isn’t so much a new concept as it is a more brooding version of Antenna, especially since three quarters of that band play in this one. The difference this time is Geraldine Hass’ cello, which—as is true of any addition of strings—turns the most delightful of pop tunes on the band’s debut, Keep a Secret, into wistful laments. Sevens open at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960.CP
