Some 40 years after coming together as a Chicago street-corner doo-wop quintet, the Dells are still serenading audiences with a variety of different R&B vocal stylings. While their upbeat Temptations-style material ain’t bad, their late-’60s/early-’70s ballads remain the high point of their repertoire. Mixing lush backing harmonies with Marvin Junior’s explosive, spine-shivering lead vocals, songs like “The Love We Had (Stays on My Mind)” and “Stay in My Corner” remain classic examples of late-night romantic soul. With Bobby Womack and D.C.’s Finest at 8 p.m. at DAR Constitution Hall, 18th & D Sts. NW. $30. (202) 628-4780. (Steve Kiviat)
