The Haden family is proving itself to be akin to the Zappas. Patriarch and jazz bassist Charlie has just released an album; daughters Rachel and Petra have been on tour with that dog and the Rentals. Now, son Josh and his band Spain are following in the family tradition. On its debut, The Blue Moods of Spain, the quartet forgoes loud, angry punk for a quiet, mellow sound, the elder Haden’s influence apparent. Obviously, even when the kid was an angst-ridden brat, he was still listening to good old Dad. With Thrift Unit and Keith Lofton at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960.
