These days, every up-and-coming band seems to feature a violinist or cellist, but the Dambuilders’ Joan Wasser is better-integrated than most. Playing against Eric Masunaga’s Gang of Four–style guitar, Wasser’s violin (and keyboards) help provide this Boston quartet’s jagged but surprisingly blithe post-punk with what one song credibly dubs “Smooth Control.” With Elevator Drops and Branch Manager at 9 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6.
