RE: “INNOCENT EVEN if Proven Guilty” (4/19), I couldn’t help but be swayed by Gary Durand’s letter (The Mail, 4/26). As a police officer, he is on the front lines of law and order in our society. His opinion is juxtaposed with that of John Banzhaf III, Esq.’s letter. His opinion is erudite in the best legal tradition, but I question whether sophistry is the answer to problems facing the inner city.
