TUESDAY
Variety has just announced a new Giant Bug movie in the making—I forget what kind of bug, except this time they’ll terrorize Topanga Canyon. Perfect timing, then, to refresh one’s knowledge of this archetypal ’50s genre by taking in its first—and finest—example: 1954’s Them! In this case, “They” were ants grown immense through careless use of our former friend, the Atom. Gordon Douglas directed, and James Arness, Leonard Nimoy, and Patty Duke’s dad, William Schallert, run around like insects. At 8 p.m. at Las Cruces, 1524 U St. NW. $2. (202) 736-1732. (DN)
