While the hype for Hovercraft is overwhelming, there’s only one important thing to know: Eddie Vedder is not in this band. This trio is the project of another Vedder, Beth, wife of the former and known on the 10-inch EP only as Sadie 7. Hovercraft’s songs sound like noisy improvisations, occupying the opposite end of the song spectrum from Pearl Jam’s efforts. And even though the Vedderman has been known to gig with his better half’s outfit—as when the group opened at the Cat for Mike Watt and the pre-MTV Foo Fighters—don’t count on his appearance this time. With TeenBeat bands Bells of and Tel Aviv at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Tina Plottel)
