With lyrics about “dusty roads” and “signs in the sky,” the Remainders are clearly in the down-home mystic mode established by the Grateful Dead (and revitalized by Phish and a dozen others). Those bands are mostly vehicles for guitar jamming, of course, and at this release party for the local quartet’s new five-song CD, Windows of Chance, the words will likely prove secondary to the jazzy interplay of guitarists Gary Simson and John Leber. With the Dirges and Peace Field at 9:30 p.m. at the Grog & Tankard, 2408 Wisconsin Ave. NW. $5. (202) 333-3114. (Mark Jenkins)
