As you may know, the

status of the farmer’s market on the plaza adjacent to Crestar’s Adams Morgan branch office has been the subject of some controversy and misunderstanding in recent days. Rumors that Crestar might be forced to shut down the Saturday market were met by a swift response from the community. The message came through loud and clear that the market is a valuable community asset that must be preserved.

We agree wholeheartedly.

We intend to continue our successful relationship with the farmers market. We are in the process of negotiating the required permits and insurance coverage to meet District of Columbia regulations and foresee no disruption to the operation of the farmers market.

At a time when many communities are fragmented, the cohesiveness of the Adams Morgan neighborhood has helped to preserve a local tradition. Thanks for your help in raising awareness of this matter.
