Contrary to Mark
Jenkins’ belief that the Takoma Theatre has been torn down or shut down (“The Rules of the Game,” 6/21), it is still operating and conducting business. The Takoma Theatre is owned and operated by Milton O. McGinty, a local African-American. McGinty renovated the Takoma Theatre a few years ago, and it is no longer a moviehouse. However, the Takoma Theatre is a place where theatrical productions, live performances, and special events are presented. As a matter of fact, we recently advertised one of our live performances in several issues of the Washington City Paper.
