Jet Lag’s Joanna Virello abides by the improvisational ethic of punk: Give a girl a guitar and she’ll know exactly what to do with it. She also follows the do-it-yourself method of labeldom, running the start-up Duchess Records with pals from Tuscadero. The label’s first 7-inch will feature the founders—Virello’s band’s “100% Soap” is the A-side (or B-side, depending on which group you ask). Listen for that song and more when Jet Lag opens for Congo Norvell at 10:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (Tina Plottel)
