There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Like all psychobillies from Texas, the members of the Unhinged worship the Reverend. Horton Heat, that is. The band’s self-titled, self-produced debut record is all about being from the second-largest state in the Union—it was even recorded at Planet Dallas studios. But Yanks anxious to try a little Southern culture must be warned: It all sounds better on the radio of a 1951 Mercury. Our Beltway mentality and our Japanese compacts just won’t cut it. The Unhinged open for Jimmie’s Chicken Shack at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (TP)
