This year’s Prince George’s County Fair celebrates “Three Centuries of Agriculture,” a theme inspired by recently published research showing that the Europeans who initially
settled in the region had been, contrary to common belief, hunter-gatherers in the Old World. The Indians they encountered on arriving were, of course, all savage cannibals. Come honor the pluck of our forefathers in discovering farming through the usual assortment of bucolic-kitsch activities (maybe even one of the Bobos on the midway!) from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today, and 4 p.m.-10 p.m. on Sept. 3-5 at the Showplace Arena, 14900 Pennsylvania Ave., Upper Marlboro. $6. (301) 952-7900. (James Lochart)
