M O N D A Y
For the life of me I can’t figure out why I’m so infatuated with Olympic hoopster Rebecca Lobo. It’s either 1.) that she single-handedly catapulted women’s basketball into the national spotlight, or 2.) the way she bangs and grunts in the slick, sweaty sea of her female opponents, screaming for the ball, thrusting her sweet, delicious shot into the steamy air, an arcing, floating love bomb that pops through the soft, nylon net and spanks the enemy into pleasant submission. I don’t know. Maybe it’s something else. Now working her wonders on the printed page, Lobo joins her mother, RuthAnn Lobo, to sign copies of their collaborative effort, The Home Team, at 7 p.m. at Borders, 534 N. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg. FREE. (301) 921-0990. (Sean Daly)
