The Flat Duo Jets are devil sons of rock ’n’ roll. Not bright-lights, big-stage, Marshall-stacks rock ’n’ roll, but the real thing, stripped-down naked, as the Good Lord meant it to be played. The Jets can play it loud, fast, and go-crazy-hill wild; they can also play it slow, easy, and sweet, with a good touch of Southern blues. Either way they serve their music, you get it raw and rare. All this and they’re only a two-piece, which in their case is more an asset than a hindrance. The Flat Duo Jets can kick harder than most three-, four-, or five-piece bands around. Catch ’em if you can with Ubangis and Rodney Henry at 8 p.m. at Phantasmagoria, 11319 Elkin St., Wheaton. $5. (301) 949-8886. (Mark Murrmann)
