Our chapter was tickLED with your treatment of our meeting announcement (“City Lights,” 9/13). Some phone callers wondered if we had provided the picture, but we gave credit where credit is due. Others wondered why on earth we were meeting at the 2nd District Police Headquarters. In future releases, we will mention that the meeting is being held in the community room of the headquarters.
We recognize we are mostly little old coots in tennis shoes whose concerns may seem bizarre to your young readers in their prime. We are passionately committed to promoting death with dignity and to legalizing physician-aid-in-dying, since we are close to it ourselves and have seen too many friends experience protracted hospital stays with unwanted medical intervention and the loss of some or all of the savings they had hoped to pass on to their offspring. Dr. Kevorkian is performing heroic, pioneering work on our behalf, and we wish the media did not demean his efforts.
The meeting brought out a good many new faces. We think we have you to thank. Thanks!
