Not two of a series of hip monster movies, Cremaster 1 and Cremaster 4 (pictured) were actually named after the muscle by which the testicles are suspended. One in a “non-chronological” (1 was made after 4) series by hot artist/filmmaker Matthew Barney, these short, quick-cut films are reputed to be dense and Duchampian, though not indecipherable. Among Barney’s interests, for what it’s worth, are the Isle of Man, fairies, motorcycle races, Loughton rams, and (of course) testicles and ovaries. At 8 p.m. at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden’s Ring Auditorium, 7th & Independence Ave. SW. FREE. (202) 357-2700. (MJ)
