From zebra-striped Afrophile to blue-suit-wearing misogynist, Silvana Straw is a poetry chameleon. Her poems are often revenge fantasies, the “fuck you” you wanted to say but couldn’t, fueled by the fallout from the time bomb of delayed anger. In performance, her voice becomes a soundbox of zany characters. Addressing issues like race, sexism, family, AIDS, and pop culture, she makes you feel edgy and like laughing aloud at the same time. In “The Uncle Silvana Show,” guest artists, including Michelle Parkerson, Quique Aviles, and Ajax Drayton, will join the fray, and who knows what madness will take place. At 9 p.m. at the Central Armature Annex, 625 D St. NW. $5. (202) 737-5917. (Holly Bass)
