The theatrics of New Kingdom’s live show are a mixture of sci-fi mysticism and Wu-Tang clannishness. Ninja masks and light sabres are mixed with tweaked turntables and clangorous guitars, as the seven bandmembers fill the stage with the outest sounds in hiphop. It’s by far the best live show I’ve seen this year, and New Kingdom’s latest, Paradise Don’t Come Cheap, documents the madness with heavy bludgeons to the synapses. Nerve damage has never felt so good. With Red Aunts and Handsome at 9 p.m. at Phantasmagoria, 11319 Elkin St., Wheaton. $6. (301) 949-8886. (CP)
