The “Favorite Song” that opens Lazy’s The Lazy Music Group is tuneful, fast, and short—pop-punk, you might say. This Cincinnati trio is more canny and eclectic than that, though: These tracks also encompass wiry art-punk, melodic pop, jangly folk-rock, and shout-along glitter-rock. There’s even a little of that cocktail-lounge stuff, albeit alternated with hard-rock passages. Having three vocalists (two of them women) helps mix things up nicely, and the band is focused enough to do all this within the context of tuneful, fast, and short. Lazy opens for Chisel and Secret Stars at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $3. (202) 667-7960. (MJ)
