Those of you who clamor for the clangor of early-’70s Miles Davis and Herbie “Mwandishi” Hancock’s Africanized outer-space chasesI know there are one or two of you besides mecan catch Hancock sideman and Davis influence Eddie Henderson tonight. As a member of Hancock’s great sextet (1970-73), Henderson could switch between funk and futurism with ease, though on his own dates capitalist green won out over capacious grooves, making for a commercialized series of fusion records. Call the trumpeter by his sextet name, “Mganga,” tonight and tomorrow when the Eddie Henderson Quartet performs at 10 p.m. at One Step Down, 2517 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. $12.50. (202) 331-8863.
