Nightingale, an eclectic Vermont-based trio, plays traditional songs and dance tunes from all over northern Europe (especially France, Ireland, and Sweden) as well as material from regions of North America (such as Newfoundland and Quebec) where colonists and their descendants kept those traditions alive (with a few variations). Nightingale is a totally acoustic unit, but with accordion, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, piano, and “foot percussion,” they produce a fully textured sound. Jeremiah McLane drives the instrumental numbers with swingin’ accordion riffs, and lead vocalist Keith Murphy is equally at home singing in English and French. At 8 p.m. at Glen Echo Town Hall, 6106 Harvard Ave., Glen Echo. $12. (301) 320-7099. (Ken Roseman)
