In the end, it’s the name. Had he been born Ted or Frank the effect would have been fairly negated. But the phrase “Maceo, with your bad self!” perfectly complements what is sure to follow—which is saxman Maceo Parker accomplishing the not inconsiderable feat of cranking up the groove a few notches for James Brown and the Famous Flames.
