Although Hey Do Right!, Boozoo Chavis’ new CD, produced by Terry Adams of NRBQ, recycles too many traditional and Boozoo-generated zydeco and Cajun melodies, the Lake Charles, La., bandleader’s clamorous live show has never been dismissed as homogeneous. Dressed in his trademark butcher’s apron and cowboy hat, zydeco’s longtime king will be pumping his accordion and dispensing his most enticing creole-accented lyrics over his group’s rough and swinging rubboard, guitar, bass, and drums. His two- and three-chord compositions may be less funky than those of younger zydeco musicians such as Beau Jocque, but they’re just as energetic and danceable. At 8 p.m. tonight and 6 p.m. tomorrow at Twist & Shout, 4800 Auburn Ave. $15. (301) 652-3383. (Steve Kiviat)
