If you’d like to celebrate President Clinton’s second inaugural, but aren’t on the guest list or can’t afford a ticket to one of the megaglitzy balls, there’s a delightful alternative. Waltz on a Dime: Sandy Mitchell (fiddle), Ralph Gordon (upright bass), Wendy Morrison (concertina, accordion), and Dave Wiesler (piano) will be playing waltzes and other dance tunes from past inaugural celebrations at the “Glen Echo Inaugural Ball.” To further create an authentic period atmosphere (although it’s not clear which period), the organizers encourage fellow travelers to come in “historical dress.” This is an alcohol- and tobacco-free event. Portions of the proceeds will benefit restoration of the Spanish Ballroom. From 7 p.m.-12:30 a.m. at the Spanish Ballroom, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo. $12. (301) 320-7099. (KR)
