Carla Perlo, Naima Prevots, Debra Riley, Alcine Wiltz, Maida Withersthese names may not be familiar to you, but erase any one of them and you erase a huge piece of Washington’s rich dance history. Without them, many area universities would have no dance program; there would be fewer performers and fewer performance spaces. They are the heart of this city’s body of dance. They are all performers, teachers, directors, choreographers, and mentors, and their work will be honored tonight in “Pioneers of Washington Dance.” Not another boring lecture that’s all talk and no action, this program offers a rare treatall five honorees will perform solo dances. The performance will be followed by a panel discussion on the honorees’ contribution to the arts and their visions for the future of the area’s dance scene. At 8 p.m. at the D.C. Jewish Community Center’s Goldman Theater, 1529 Q St. NW. $15. (202) 518-9400. (Holly Bass)
